The monday after Christmas, Kole was getting ready to head to Michigan to do some electrical work for his dad. He received a call that late morning from a friend saying that they had some puppies they were selling and they wanted us to show Kody. We went over there and were there not 10 minutes before we found one and decided that we wanted to keep her. This was not the plan. We were mostly going to go look at them and ooh and aaaah, however Kody and I found the perfect puppy for our family. She is the runt from her mix, and she is so calm and loving, and wasn't yappy or starved for attention as some of the other puppies were. Well, since Kole was leaving for Michigan that day, we asked the owners if they wouldn't mind keeping our puppy with them until Kole came home. He wanted to set up a place for her to sleep, play, and he needed to secure the backyard gates so she wouldn't squeeze under them and escape. Finally after 10 days we get to bring our sweet girl home. Kody named her Marley and the movie "Marley and Me." I still don't think it suits her, but whatever. The name could have been worse. After we get her settled, I soon realize that puppies are a lot like babies.
Similarities:
They pee/poop a lot
sleep most of the day
get 10 minutes of energy burst, then fall asleep within seconds
you feed them more often than not
you have to find someone to take care of them when you're away a long time
make sure they don't get into stuff they're not supposed to be in (dirt, poop, flowers, )
they like to chew on stuff
make sure they don't go potty on the floor
they make funny noises when they're dreaming
Differences:
you don't have to de-worm a baby
puppies can play out in the backyard by themselves for a few hours
It's more accepted to swat a puppies back than a baby when disciplining
We do adore Marley. She is so dang smart. Since the nights have been quite cold lately we have allowed her to sleep inside. She'll wake up and head over to the door to be let out to go potty. She doesn't yap or bark in the middle of the night. She'll sit while she waits for us to let her in/out of the door. Kody really likes her because she's not a crazy puppy. She'll have her 10 minutes of energy where she wants to play and be under your feet, but overall, she doesn't have the stereotypical puppy crazy behavior where they're jumping on you and slobbering all over. She's a good puppy.
Marley at 6 weeks. She is half Great Pyrenees/ half anatolian shepherd
a bit bigger. about 8 weeks.
She sleeps in the funniest positions!

Soooo cute! I'm glad you took a picture of her sleeping with her head hanging off the bed! P.s. She needs a pink collar!
Wow, you can see a big difference between 6 weeks and 8 weeks!
I think Marley just might be the puppy that shows my kids (V, anyway!) that dogs aren't ALL annoying and jumpy and crazy! :)
She's beautiful. I'm so glad that Kody loves her. They seem like they like each other and Marley is a great fit for your family. How fun!
I totally think puppies and babies are a lot alike. They both require a lot of work and cleaning up after. Your puppy is so cute!!
She is precious!
I agree. They are definitely like babies. We have two and they are hard work. Thank goodness, like you said...they can play in the backyard for hours!
Love your Marley!
