bad blogger

In the middle of the day when Kody and I are doing something, I'll think about something I want to blog/journal about... BUT by the time I have a minute to sit at the computer to write about the events or stories, my mind goes blank.  So, we're all doing well. I don't have much to report. I love my husband, daughter, and puppy.

poor baby

This past week were supposed to be at the happiest place on earth.  That's right. Disneyland.  We made reservations about 2-3 months ago.  It would have been Kody's first time and I have not been since high school and I don't know when the last time Kole went. I have never been to California adventure land and from what I hear, it's pretty amazing.  I spent many hours on Thursday and Friday getting the house clean and laundry done so that the only thing I had to worry about when we got home was our dirty laundry.  I had a paper to write before we left and had to get a dog sitter and everything. Even went to the shoe store and purchased some cute little nikes for Kody so she would have good shoes to wear while walking her legs off. Well, Saturday morning comes around and Kody comes whimpering in my room with the saddest face and tells me that she doesn't feel good. I pop up out of bed and bring her close to me and her arms and body and face are on fire.  I rush to get her ear thermometer and whattaya know? 104.5 ยบ temperature! I couldn't believe it. My poor baby was so sick. her sad little face with her sunken eyes.  She didn't have any other symptoms that day. she did throw up once, but that is because she ate a donut hole (not fully given by me).  She has been keeping her liquids down and was able to eat dry cereal later in the day.  We had to let Kole's mom know what was up since she was going on the trip with us. We decided to just wait it out. Sometimes kids get fevers for no reason. I don't know if they get them that high, but still. Kole and his scout leader companion gave Kody a blessing. I was grateful for that. I was kinda stressed that day because I had yet to write my paper and when your child gets sick, they want to be extra snuggly. Kole had the scouts over that morning to work on some stuff, but when they left, Kole took over on the snuggling and I was able to get my paper done! I was so blessed. It took me only a couple hours to write and I ended up getting a 100% on it. Anyway, Sunday rolls around and Kody's fever is still crazy high. I think it got up to 104.7 in the middle of the night. And this is with an ear thermometer. I'm sure rectally it was about a degree higher. So sunday we had to postpone our trip. I am looking on the positive side that it is great that Kody got sick before we left! How crappy would it have been to get all the way there, have her get sick and then what? drive home with a sick kid who would have been miserable the entire time? So we'll go a little later and it will be better. I think she'll be able to enjoy it more.  My poor little girl is still so sick. I finally gave in and took her to the doctor today, but only because she said her ear hurt and she was starting to get a nasty cough.  I didn't want any of those infections getting worse. There is nothing they can do for the flu, so no need to rush to the doctor to waste money. Hopefully she'll start to feel better soon. It breaks my heart to hear her cough her little lungs out when she's trying to sleep. Thank goodness she has a nurse for a mommy. :)

Babies babies everywhere...

... everywhere but here.  I do hope my baby comes soon. I have been ready for another one quite some time now.  I don't even want my job first. I was hoping to get a job so we could have another income, but with that being harder to find or gain, I hope my baby comes soon.  No, we are  not pregnant. It is just something I have been praying for, for months now.  Kody will be such a great big sister.  I know she is ready as well.... hmm well as ready as an almost 5yr old can be. She might not like sharing Grandparent's attention.  That's all I have to say.

Babies vs puppies

The monday after Christmas, Kole was getting ready to head to Michigan to do some electrical work for his dad.  He received a call that late morning from a friend saying that they had some puppies they were selling and they wanted us to show Kody.  We went over there and were there not 10 minutes before we found one and decided that we wanted to keep her.  This was not the plan. We were mostly going to go look at them and ooh and aaaah, however Kody and I found the perfect puppy for our family.  She is the runt from her mix, and she is so calm and loving, and wasn't yappy or starved for attention as some of the other puppies were.  Well, since Kole was leaving for Michigan that day, we asked the owners if they wouldn't mind keeping our puppy with them until Kole came home. He wanted to set up a place for her to sleep, play, and he needed to secure the backyard gates so she wouldn't squeeze under them and escape.  Finally after 10 days we get to bring our sweet girl home. Kody named her Marley and the movie "Marley and Me."  I still don't think it suits her, but whatever.  The name could have been worse.  After we get her settled, I soon realize that puppies are a lot like babies.

Similarities:
They pee/poop a lot
sleep most of the day
get 10 minutes of energy burst, then fall asleep within seconds
you feed them more often than not
you have to find someone to take care of them when you're away a long time
make sure they don't get into stuff they're not supposed to be in (dirt, poop, flowers, )
they like to chew on stuff
make sure they don't go potty on the floor
they make funny noises when they're dreaming

Differences:
you don't have to de-worm a baby
puppies can play out in the backyard by themselves for a few hours
It's more accepted to swat a puppies back than a baby when disciplining

We do adore Marley. She is so dang smart.  Since the nights have been quite cold lately we have allowed her to sleep inside.  She'll wake up and head over to the door to be let out to go potty.  She doesn't yap or bark in the middle of the night. She'll sit while she waits for us to let her in/out of the door.   Kody really likes her because she's not a crazy puppy. She'll have her 10 minutes of energy where she wants to play and be under your feet, but overall, she doesn't have the stereotypical puppy crazy behavior where they're jumping on you and slobbering all over.  She's a good puppy.

Marley at 6 weeks. She is half Great Pyrenees/ half anatolian shepherd

a bit bigger. about 8 weeks.

She sleeps in the funniest positions!

My Beautiful girl

Today was such a pretty day and Kody and I were cooped up all the day long. So we went out side to play.  You just have to love Arizona at this time of year when you can go outside barefoot, and wear a long sleeve shirt with pants and call it good.  I have a friend with a very talented mother who make these adorable owl hats.  I recently purchased this for Kody and as we were outside I took the opportune moment to take some photos. Please enjoy. I am pretty much in love.

things that are sick

So I was thinking about all the things that sicken me. Here is a list that I have come up with in no particular order:

loose teeth

mangled bones

people's skin/hair flakes they leave on hospital beds when the sheets are removed for cleaning

Lovely child of mine swishing yogurt

sweaty money

sweaty socks

I would say that the flaky skin in the worst. I was cleaning a bed the other night at the hospital and as I removed the sheets there were flakes all over the mattress. We use super duty wipes that burn your nose when smelling the aroma they leave, so don't worry if you ever need to go to the hospital. The beds are fine, but still. I am disgusted every time.  It happens more so with older generation people and perhaps they don't lotion their skin enough, Idk.
Same with sweaty socks. These are socks from other people. With my own kid, it's not too bad. I don't ever have to deal with Kole's socks.  He's pretty good about not leaving them around.  Again in the hospital, picking up people's sweaty socks in their sheets or on the floor or taking them off to assess their pulse- sick. I see a lot of sick things, but it's the little ones that seem to sicken me the most.

I know there are other things that sicken me, but they don't come to mind right now.  What sickens you?
