Okay, Sorry It's been a while. Okay well I have 2 weeks of school under my belt. It has felt more like 2 months though because of all the material to read or do or whatever. I have lecture on monday and wednesdays from 830-11, then on tuesday and thursday clinicals/lecture from 8-3. We get an hour lunch break which is nice. I like having that. There are 40 of us in my block. And even though it's only been 2 weeks, I feel like i've known some of them for longer. I have made some good friends already. It is a lot of fun.
Okay so back to how much material there is. So far this semester in lecture we've learned about all the legal stuff, and ethical stuff, and basically all the basic info needed to know before you got out and do any of it. In lab we learned how to take vitals, change bed sheets with and without a patient in them, proper hand washing, how to ACE wrap someone, how to put on tedhose, how to change a bed pan or diaper, and how to give bed baths. There actually might be more, but I can't think of it all at the moment. I also have a pharmacology class where we are learning how to give medicines. Which medicines can be crushed, which can't and how the medicine is absorbed and how it is distributed throughout the body. It is insane how much there is. I'm sure I haven't even covered everything.
In Pharmacology though, we took a little quiz on calculation doses and if you did not get a 100%, then you would have to retake the test til you did get one. Basically giving out medicines is the number one reason whey there are medical errors, and if you don't know how to give out medicine or know the proper amount, you shouldn't be doing it. I got a 100% on my test, so that's good. The math behind it is actually very easy. As my instructor says- math is always the same. it never changes. She said that once you get the math down, that's the easy part. That will all become second nature.
We are learning how to do things in lab, but in October that is when we will be going out to the extended care facilities and actually utilizing our skills. I don't know which ones we'll be going to, but it will be 4 different ones. Next semester we get to go to Mercy Gilbert Hospital and Chandler regional hospital. I am really excited for those. I hear Mercy Gilbert is a nice hospital. It will be a fun 2 years. Hard, but so rewarding. I have such a wonderful husband who makes it possible for me to study and get my school work done every night. He takes care of Kody the moment he gets home from work. I am so grateful for my friends and family who watch Kody for me while I am in class. I don't think I would be able to get this done if I didn't have the help and support as I do now. I can't wait to be an RN. I love learning new things. I'll keep you guys updated as much as I can. I don't really have much time for anything else it seems like. So keep checking in on us. OOh and I posted 2 others so check those out too

yeah...good luck with all that schooling! At first I was jealous but now I'm glad i'm not there, I suck with calculations. I would have to take the tes about a billion times!
So busy, so busy. My eyes hurt from looking at the black page and pink writing but your blog is so cute. Thanks for calling today. I love to chat.
